It's no secret that when it comes to masking, K-beauty really knows its stuff. Whether its the ingredients, textures, or techniques, they will find a way to blow you away.

As much as most of us want to spend that time pampering ourselves with our skincare regime, there have to be days when we just can't. Sitting there for 20 minutes with a mask on when your kid is crying in the next room can be real tough we imagine. For days like those, we want to make sure you still feel amazing and your skin still glows because pampering yourself with a nice mask doesn't have to take up all of 20 minutes. In fact, with these gorgeous masks by Blithe, 15 seconds in the shower is really all you need! Apparently, those 15 seconds can produce results that 20 minutes with a regular wash-off mask or sheet mask do!

We have two of the three masks in store at the moment: Purple Berry for rejuvenation, and Green Tea for soothing and healing. Inspired by the Korean bathhouse tradition of splashing botanical steeped water onto the face after cleansing to tone and brighten the skin, splash masks are a GAME CHANGER. All you have to do is literally splash and pat the liquid onto the face for as little as 15 seconds! Not only do these liquid masks deliver the regular moisturizing benefits but they also incorporate gentle exfoliation. The trick is to ensure that your face is soaking wet before you apply the product and a little steam in the shower will only add to the benefits. Check out the ingredient lists below for each of the two masks to see how concentrated they are:

Soothing & Healing Green Tea - Water, Lactic Acid, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Panthenol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated castor oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Lactate, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Flower Extract, Dextrin, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Salicylic Acid.

Rejuvenating Purple Berry - Water, Glycerin, Lactic Acid, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, panthenol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium lactate, Gardenia Florida Fruit Extract, Ipomoea Batatas Root Extract, Fragrance, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract (40ppm), Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry) Fruit Extract (40ppm), Vaccinium Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract (40ppm), Fragaria Chiloensis (Strawberry) Fruit Extract(40ppm), Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract (40ppm), Tocopheryl Acetate, Adenosine, Dextrin.

With lactic acid as the 2nd and 3rd ingredient on the list for these products, we totally understand the hype. What is lactic acid you ask? It's one of the most popular alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) in skincare today. (along with Glycolic acid). Super powerful ingredient which helps reduce acne, the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. Don't worry! It's a natural acid derived from milk, fruits, vegetables and other plants and is safe enough to get over the counter. Not only is it gentler than glycolic acid, but it also hydrates, increases natural barrier lipids in the outer layer of skin, and helps immensely with pigmentation. And as you can see, the remaining ingredients are mostly botanical extracts and essential oils.

Now that we know what these superstars are made of, let's talk about how to use them. Method is key over here.

What Blithe says:

Pour one cap of splash mask into your palm (don't worry if the first time is a disaster and you spill some...you're not alone!) whilst in the shower and splash and pat on the face, avoiding the eye and lip area. Pat it into your skin and use the water from the shower to continue splashing and rinse off the face. After shower, follow with usual skin care steps. Another method of use is to pour a capful of splash mask into a clean bowl of water (the ideal ratio of formula to water is 1:100, so a capful requires 700ml of water). Stir with finger tips, then use to splash generously onto face. Gently pat face until damp and don't wet face afterwards. Follow with usual skin care steps. Use at least 2 x a week, or every other morning, as desired. Each bottle has enough splash mask formula for 30 uses.

Alternate Method:

You can use this out of the shower too for quick touch ups. Soak a cotton pad in water (one of those big, fat, round ones is perfect) and dispense onto it one drop of the mask. Apply as you would a toner, skipping sensitive areas like the undereyes. A more generous 2-3 drops and you can smooth over rough patches like elbows and ankles too.

Now, let's talk about the cost breakdown. AED189 might seem like a lot for a mask. But then again, we often use sheet masks that ride up to AED15-20 per mask sometimes. One bottle of these babies can be used for up to 30 treatments. So let's do the math: 189/30 = AED6.3 per use! That might make it easier to invest in these gorgeous masks.
